!TAKE ACTION NOW!

Since the passage of the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act in 1971, the federal protections given to America's Wild Horses and Burros and the critical habitat they need to survive has been circumvented, ignored and eroded to such a point that nothing short of demanding EMERGENCY INTERVENTION may be able to save them!

With more wild horses and burros in government holding facilities than still on the range, BLMs own population reports suggesting they have removed thousands of animals illegally, the majority of the remaining herds cut to population levels so low they are at risk of inbreeding or large scale die offs, over one third of their habitat now gone, the secret "Burns Amendment" slipped in the back of a massive Congressional bill overturning three decades of protection from being sold for slaughter and BLMs recent announcement of possibly killing thousands of those now captured, the future of America's Mustangs and Burros has become very, very grim indeed.

We must restore their protections if they are to be preserved!

~HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO~
Please email, call or write the provided contacts
and demand they initiate these actions.

*EMERGENCY NEPA ACTION TO DESIGNATE
CRITICAL HABITAT ON PUBLIC DOMAIN
NEPA is a legal process allowing immediate action to return our now imperiled wild horses and burros back to the range while relieving the BLM and the taxpayers of the financial costs to care for them.

*CALL FOR A CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION
The lives of the tens of thousands of wild horses and burros currently at risk have been taken from the American people. Evidence suggests much of how this happened is linked to corruption, waste, fraud, and abuse running rampant in the Wild Horse and Burro Program and the Department of the Interior that must be exposed.

*DEMAND A MORATORIUM ON WILD HORSE & BURRO REMOVALS
Over the last seven years, over 75,000 wild horses and burros have been removed from public lands. Evidence suggests thousands more wild horses and burros were removed than was necessary and BLMs own reported national populations have been highly skewed for well over a decade. No further removals should occur until an independent count assesses the actual wild horse and burro populations still remaining on public lands.

*DEMAND THE LAWS GOVERNING THEIR PROTECTION BE RESTORED
Much of the current crisis these majestic American icons face today is a result of laws that have either been ignored or undermined. Wild Horse's and Burro's were granted Special Status due to their historic, cultural and aesthetic values to the American people as well as their immeasurable contributions towards the building of our great Nation. They are irreplaceable national treasures loved the world over that must be preserved, both now, and for future generations.

We adopted a BLM Mustang 2 years ago...what a joy! We're going to adopt another one this April, we only have 1.5 acres of land, and a tight household budget, but if WE can adopt 2, why can't everyone that has the facility/room/time/heart just adopt (1) horse or burro? Problem solved, no? Thanks for your work here, I'll make alot of noise here in Albuquerque!

Attention true horse lovers while we are fighting to end horse slaughter by the passage of H R 503, cattle producers want the following bills passed so they can continue to pollute our air with greenhouse gas from their cattle and then be exempt from paying the greenhouse gas emission tax that all other business will have to pay. We need to get everyone involved to vote against these bills. they want a free pass to pollute and kill our horses I say no to both and it is high time to fight back lets see how much horse slaughter is worth to them.

Contact your congressmen and senators let them know to vote for the quick passage of H R 503 and against H R 1438 and S 527. Remember it only takes one sympathetic senator to block their bills just as Conrad Burns blocked our bill last year. The pro slaughter associations need to know that as long as they oppose a horse slaughter ban we will oppose any bill they want passed. Let’s see how much money we can cost them; what will they be willing to pay to continue horse slaughter. The cattle associations are also against S 22 so urge your senators to cosponsor this bill as well.
